Feeling lost: the fog before clarity

Happy Monday,

I hope this finds you well as you ease into a new week.

It was quite foggy here on the school run this morning and this got me thinking about feeling lost before the fog lifts and clarity appears. This can be quite an unsettling feeling. The brain wants certainty, so when you let go of something and move towards the next thing, there can be that in-between period where you can’t quite see what is coming, and it can feel a bit foggy and uncertain.

I’m calling this feeling ‘almost clear’ and I am currently composing a short tune to go with this morning’s drive through the fog.

Last Monday, I wrote about letting go, and I composed what turned out to be a bit of a full song rather than a short tune! You can see the morning drive video with the song here on my instagram.

Sunlight filters through trees along a misty forest path at dawn, creating a serene autumn landscape.

Feeling lost: What if the in-between space is where growth happens?

There is a lot of advice out there about seeking clarity and mapping out our goals in order to know exactly where we are going. But what if that in-between space is not something to rush through or be wary of? What if we accepted the fog as part of the process and took the pressure off of ourselves to know right now. Let the fog be there. Trust that you are where you need to be, stay curious, rather than anxious about the uncertainty. There is beauty in the fog.

Here is my invitation to you this week:

If you find yourself in the fog; uncertain, unclear, not quite knowing what is coming next. Don’t be afraid of it. You are where you need to be. Stay curious. The clarity will come when it’s ready.

Embrace the fog.

I am going to try and do that right now whilst creating the track to go with this morning’s drive.

Sunlight filters through the autumn forest canopy in Văliug, Romania, creating a magical morning scene.

See you next week,

Donna
